FREE FMS INFORMATION PACK
10 Apr 2013
For production nurseries, greenlife markets and growing media suppliers that are not accredited under the Nursery Production Farm Management System, NGIA is offering free information packs.
The Nursery Industry has established an industry specific Farm Management System (FMS) for businesses that enables them to operate efficiently and benefit financially by implementing a systems approach in the areas of best practice, environmental management and biosecurity.
The FMS program includes the following three programs:
- NIASA (Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme Australia) which ensures businesses maintain a benchmark standard and assists businesses in continuous improvement.
- EcoHort (Nursery Industry Environmental Management System) certification which demonstrates that businesses have sound environmental stewardship and natural resource management.
- BioSecure HACCP (Nursery Industry Biosecurity Program) which supports businesses with management of biosecurity risks for both imported and exported material.
Management and administration and of the FMS program is undertaken by Nursery & Garden Industry Australia (NGIA) in conjunction with a National Accreditation and Certification Committee.
Businesses accredited under the FMS are third party audited independently by the Industry’s Development Officer (IDO) Network to ensure they achieve the criteria for each of the FMS programs. The IDO network also offers continued technical support and guidance to the businesses.
For production nurseries, greenlife markets and growing media suppliers that are unaware and not accredited under the FMS, NGIA is offering free information packs valued at over $50. Packs include information on the program, sample diagnostic kits and discounted soil and tissue analysis. This offer is available between 1 April and 30 June 2013.
