HENRICO AQUATIC CENTRE

Henrico County is known for its greatest number of Civil War battlefields in the United States. The English colonists first mined coal and iron in Henrico County. The county was named after in honour of Henry Frederick, son of James I and Prince of Wales. Henrico was one of the villages of Indian Chief Powhatan (father to Pocahontas). The present-day Henrico County curves around the City of Richmond, surrounding it to the west, the north, and the east.

Introducing the Interactive Activity Tower at Henrico Aquatic Center

The new Activity Tower brings a whole new personality to the new 21,000 square foot aquatics centre on North Laburnum Avenue. The Grassland-themed Activity Tower by Waterplay provides children with easy-to-reach play elements that create limitless fun for all levels.

For this project, our design and specification team worked in collaboration with Moseley Architects and Amrian Johnson with Counsilman Hunsaker to bring a new type of water play for everyone.

Inspiring Imaginative Play

The Waterplay Grassland Collection is one of our signature designs and many children's favourite. Waterplayers get sprayed from the Flutter of the translucent butterfly and Sparx (dragonfly) feeling like they are immersed in a world of nature. From cannons to in-panel splashers social connectivity has never been so much fun. Plus, big splashes from the slides offer dynamic adventures getaway for young tots and thrill seekers alike.

The tall blades of grass, whimsical wildflowers, smooth stones, and friendly creatures, also bring the wonder and beauty of nature to the activity tower. And when all is done, water players can speed down the slide to plunge into the surrounding water to reset their nature experience. The Activity Tower is not only great for adventurous play, but it also enhances child development and social interaction.
