GRANVILLE STATE SCHOOL

The students at Granville State School were excited to welcome a fun new playground to their campus!

With a focus on natural timber play (using Australian timber), this new playspace features a custom-made timber boat bow, cubby and marine grade timber unit, which was constructed onsite by Austek Play’s team of experienced carpenters.

Austek Play incorporated elements that were identified through discussion and collaboration with the school, offering design guidance throughout the process.

The concept of the design is to target users in the 2-9-year OHSC age group, with a variety of play options that will stimulate and encourage physical and imaginative play.

Manmade mounds were designed and constructed to meet the school’s desire to experiment with landforms and create play experiences through exposing users to a variety of tactile and sensory experiences. A forest-themed sensory garden with mushrooms for seating creates opportunity for imaginary play, suitable for an early learning environment.
