The Growing Together national tour event by the 202020 Vision team has been a resounding success so far, with the Sydney and Brisbane events still to come. Don’t miss out!
The first Growing Together national tour event was held on May 30 by the 202020 Vision team in Adelaide, with subsequent events held in Melbourne on July 11 and Perth on July 25. The event has been about engaging the community and building support for greenspace projects.
It has been a resounding success so far with close to 100 people attending each event, representing local councils, state government bodies, local property developers, community organisations and industry representatives.
Visitors have heard from a diverse range of panellists and speakers – from developers to government representatives, designers and researchers – that were in broad agreement about the need for increasing urban liveability through the addition of more and improved greenspaces. Differing viewpoints on how this vision could be achieved were shared.
The highlight of the first event in Adelaide was the after-lunch workshop session, where attendees split into groups and presented their case for/against a hypothetical development scenario to The Hon. Stephan Knoll MP, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Local Government and Minister for Planning.
Brand-new research commissioned by Hort Innovation about community perceptions around greenspace was also presented on this day, as well as an accompanying how-to guide and plug'n'play advertising kit for local councils wanting to bring the community along on their greenspace journeys (these resources are publicly available for download here).
There are two more tour events remaining. If you haven't registered your spot in the following states yet, get in quick.
