VICTORIA ONE'S GREEN FACADE
10 Sep 2014
Victoria One is a residential living tower inspired by Victoria’s diverse topography.
The new 75 level Victoria One tower celebrates Victorian landscapes with inspiration for the form and facade taken from the state’s waterfalls, oceans and rainforests, and reinterpreted in an urban setting. Designed by Elenberg Fraser, the tower will also feature 10 floors of fixed and overflowing vegetation surrounding the base, to soften the relationship with the street level.
“The fluid façade appears soft and yielding like the local parks, oceans and rivers. Green glazing with gold highlights gives a botanic feel,” Project Director Callum Fraser commented.
“The fins, which appropriately also assist with wind and sun protection, are shimmering silver, shifting like the currents of a stream or leaves being shaken with rain.”
Three floors of communal space have been designed to touch on the great outdoors. On level nine, a pool, spa and gym inspired by the beaches and rock pools of the coast leads a long list of luxury communal facilities, including an indoor and outdoor entertaining zone and recreation area.
Golden Age Group Managing Director Jeff Xu said “Victoria One will be a landmark and Melbourne icon for years to come, showcasing the best of Victoria and the talent of one of the city’s best architectural practices.”
“It will be a building that is always transforming, with the strategic use of the fins dotted at varying points throughout the façade creating the illusion of movement from wherever you observe it.”
The design is highly detailed to ensure no centimetre is wasted and views and amenity are maximised. Smart joinery, versatile winter gardens and layouts that maximise space make Victoria One apartments feel fresh, light and refined.
Completion is expected in early 2018.
