TUMBLING TEACUPS DEPICT A FRAGILE EARTH
23 Sep 2020
Situated in Helsingrog, Sweden, Shattering is a 3D mural by anamorphic street artist Leon Keer that depicts the fragility of the earth, with each cup portraying a different environmental danger.
Keer plans to combine anamorphic art with augmented reality for this mural, which will allow viewers to scan the painting with their smartphone or tablet and see it come to life.
Drawing a parallel between the fragility of the teacups and our earth, Keer brings attention to the environmental dangers threatening our planet. Each cup is painted in a different colour and presents a different scene on its surface, such as melting glaciers, extinct animal species and oil spills.
The visual experience of Shattering is enhanced with augmented reality by Joost Spek of 3Dpicnic. Through the Leon Keer app, viewers will be able to scan the painting and see it come to life.
