THE GAIA AWARDS 2011
23 Nov 2011
Environmental awards took centre stage during The Big 5 International Building and Construction Show, held in Dubai November 21 – 24.
Winners of the prestigious construction environmental awards, the Gaia Awards 2011, were announced at the Green Build Congress held at The Big 5 in Dubai. Nuuon Trading LLC scooped Gold at this year’s awards for its EnOcean Technology.
Nuuon designs wireless home automation and security systems. Its award-winning EnOcean green wireless technology supports battery-less and maintenance-free sensors that can be freely positioned: switches next to doors, temperature sensors in the work-place, and motion detectors.
The Gaia Awards were launched in 2008 and have quickly grown to become one of the construction industry’s most respected accolades. Joining Nuuon in the awards were two Silver winners and four Bronze alongside 13 finalists.
Regional companies have also made their mark this year, with a number of UAE companies making it to the final including Arminox Middle East Fzc, Jotun UAE Ltd, Pittsburgh Corning Middle East, Technoform Middle East and Wmc Metal Industries.
Andy White, event director for The Big 5, said: “The standard of entries increases year-on-year and this year has been no exception – congratulations to all companies who made the winners this year, especially Nuuon Trading. Its EnOcean technology is outstanding and I am certain it will make a significant impact on the market.
“As the importance of environmental responsibility continues to increases across the international construction industry, the technologies and innovations that are being put forward for Gaia Award become further advanced and it has been fantastic to see the commitment to the environment from so many companies. The Big 5 provides a showcase to help raise the profile of the winning green solutions, and we know from previous Gaia Winners that the awards can make a real difference to their business.”
The 2011 Big 5 International Building and Construction Show took place from November 21-24 at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
