Now in its 6th year, Rocks Plus continues to grow as a major supplier of landscape rocks, pebbles, toppings, sawn rock pavers and natural steps to the landscape industry across Victoria.

Rocks Plus is situated on an impressive 5 acre site conveniently located close to both the Eastlink and Citylink in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. With an extensive range exceeding 20+ landscape rock products, you can be sure to find whatever you need for your next landscape project.

In operation for over 6 years, Rocks Plus has a wide selection of natural Mud Rock and Granite that provide endless applications in a variety of landscape settings. In particular, Mudrock and Granite make excellent natural steps in a landscape design.

MUD ROCK

Often referred to as River Mud Rock, due to its composition of sedimentary rock in various earthy shades, it is a fine-grained silty rock derived from ancient deposits. Mud Rock can be split easily into thin plates along well defined planes, making it extremely versatile for a variety of landscape uses. It is ideal for water features such as waterfalls, ponds, swimming pools and paving, as well as being well suited for use in creating retaining walls and steps in all domestic and commercial designs.

GRANITE

Consisting of a medium to course grained texture, Granite can range in colour from pink, yellow, or gray to black, depending on the mineralogy of the region in which it was mined. Hard and tough in composition, the darker Granites have a reputation in the construction industry as a versatile and durable building material. The lighter toned Granites are most widely used in gardens, both rustic and formal.

Granite is ideal for a wide ranging use of applications around ponds, dry river beds, construction, feature rock, steps or pillars, and general garden applications. It can also be used as pillars or columns in various shapes and sizes.

Rocks Plus extensive selection of Mud Rock and Granite comes in a selection of sizes, shapes and colours designed to suit individual project requirements.

Using Mud Rock and Granite as natural steps will create a standout attribute in any landscape design, as illustrated by these featured projects.

PROJECT 1

This suburban residence got the rustic treatment with the use of 150mm sawn Mud Rock to create accessible and attractive steps. The steps are the feature of the front garden and provide an impressive path to the front door. The remainder of the garden is framed with honeycomb boulders.

PROJECT 2

Created from a combination of 40mm sawn Granite steppers and Mud Rock retaining blocks, this landscape created in a public school setting in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne beautifully highlights how the contrasting salt and pepper granite pavers work harmoniously beside the soft natural tones of Mud Rock.

PROJECT 3

In this project Mud Rock steps were used to effortlessly connect the lower level of the garden bed to the upper level and the driveway. Simple but effective, and perfectly blended to the native garden surrounding it.

PROJECT 4

Natural Mud Rock steps were used to create a durable and effective path along the side of this suburban residence, without the need for concrete, sand or special foundations. The large-format naturally rendered steps were laid on the existing surface then surrounded by mulch to create a versatile yet attractive space that requires no effort to maintain.

PROJECT 5

This unique landscape design utilised Mud Rock to create steps and a retaining wall/inbuilt seating, beautifully reflecting the rural setting. The design was finished using 20mm Tuscan topping stones and 60-100mm Buffalo pebbles.
