SKY PARK OPENS UP
18 Jul 2019
Sky Park is the jewel of the new Melbourne Quarter precinct – an open-air greenspace that allows visitors to enjoy the outdoors and take in the city's skyline in a protected environment.
Set across 2.5 hectares on a corner of Melbourne’s CBD grid, the Melbourne Quarter (MQ) precinct is the missing piece of the city puzzle.
One Melbourne Quarter (One MQ) by architect Denton Corker Marshall, is the first commercial office tower to be completed in the precinct. The 13 level, 25,000-metre-square building is a benchmark for leading workplace design. Its centrepiece is Melbourne’s first Sky Park, floating 12 metres above Collins Street.
The park is suspended above Collins Street, opposite Southern Cross Station, and accessible via a dramatic staircase or a series of glass lifts. The majority of Sky Park is open-air, featuring a lush green landscape that allows visitors to soak up the sun in a wind-protected environment.
With the first stage of Sky Park now open, locals, visitors and workers can begin to be acquainted with their new green backyard.
Sky Park is open to the public during business hours, Monday to Friday.
