06 Mar 2013
Global property developer Frasers Property Australia (FPA) has received approval for a major residential redevelopment on an industrial riverfront site at Parramatta.
Global property developer Frasers Property Australia (FPA) has received approval from the NSW Joint Regional Planning Panel for a major residential redevelopment on an industrial riverfront site at 2 Morton Street, Parramatta - 1.2km east of the Parramatta CBD.
The area was re-zoned for residential, mixed use, public open space and waterway uses in 2011 under the new Parramatta Local Environment Plan.
The 5 hectare site which is currently an industrial park tenanted by Toshiba, will have 10 towers ranging from two to 12 storeys, containing 774 apartments.
The first stage of the development comprises 277 dwellings and more than 400 car spaces, whilst the additional two stages are mixed use development. The site is within easy walking distance of the University of Western Sydney, and includes plans for a pedestrian bridge connecting the north and south riverbanks as part of an extensive regional walking and cycling network. The award-winning architectural firm Smart Design Studio who also worked with FPA on Central Park will also contribute to the project.
Frasers Property Australia has a robust development portfolio of commercial, retail and residential space in Sydney with 235,000 square metres at Sydney’s Central Park, the Lumiere Residences at 101 Bathurst Street, the Trio apartment development in Camperdown and the Queens Riverside.
With other new commercial development projects occurring in the area, Parramatta will create a new vibrant central western Sydney hub.
