PLANT LIFE BALANCE

Improve your Plant Life Balance is the Nursery & Garden Industry’s call for support in 2012 and they hope all green industries will get involved.
‘Improve your Plant Life Balance’ is the message the Nursery & Garden Industry (NGIA) is hoping all green industries in Australia will support in 2012.
“Across Australia, the nursery and garden industry has the objective to get more plant life balance into the lives of Australians and we will launch our second phase of the campaign in early 2012,” said CEO of NGIA, Robert Prince.
“The campaign goes into its second year with the key theme of ‘More trees please’ which will appeal to a broader cross-section of the green industry than the first tactical phase of ‘Put a plant on your desk’,” said Robert.
The new theme will be targeted in its approach, directing the main message to the value of trees and the health and wellbeing improvements they contribute to our lives.
“We will be taking this message to key stakeholder groups like developers and local councils to make them more aware of the importance of trees and the urban forest in particular.
“It is our aim to keep other green industries like landscapers, landscape architects and contractors informed throughout the campaign and encourage them to come on board – promoting plant/life balance is a benefit for us all,” added Robert.
Improve your Plant Life Balance Day will be held on March 2 next year, with a major event being planned in Canberra.
“There is a wealth of research about the important value of trees to our health and wellbeing which is not widely known in our industry, and certainly not in the general community. Our media campaign will utilise this and new research which supports the health argument for more trees in the urban environment throughout Australia.
“In addition, there are exciting new tools which now enable us to give a value to trees in our urban forests. These will be of benefit to all of the green industries. We will be working with key groups such as TreeNet and arborists to take this message to decision makers” added Robert.
The campaign’s consumer focus will utilise existing tools such as the very successful Plant Life Balance Facebook page, along with a new Plant Life Balance website, media events and releases, plus information kits and tools such as YouTube and Twitter.
“We are hoping that the umbrella message of ‘improve your plant life balance’ can be embraced by all of the green industry to promote any product or service,” added Robert.
