David Foster has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of NGINA, replacing Mike Skegg who resigned last year due to ill health.
The Nursery and Garden Industry Association of NSW and ACT (NGINA) is pleased to announce the appointment of David Foster to the role of Chief Executive Officer. David replaces Mike Skegg, who resigned late last year due to ill health.
David, who officially takes up the position on February 6, has had a career spanning 30 years, covering many different industries and business disciplines which included considerable time with both Coles Myer and Woolworths.
Most recently, David has been running his own management consulting firm, servicing small and medium size business clients with process and system reviews. Amongst other roles, David was Chief Operating Officer of Babies Galore, where he led a transformation program to revitalise and place the business on a platform for further expansion. He was previously Divisional Merchandise Manager for Big W, where he led a team of buyers covering a wide range of merchandise including greenlife, garden and allied product categories.
David was instrumental in driving the consolidation of liquor retailing as part of the senior management group at Liquorland, where David held general management positions in marketing, merchandise, supply chain and operations. He represented the business in industry forums such as Wine Australia and retail associations.
As Managing Director of Harris Technology (bought out by Officeworks), David led the development of the business to become an Australia-wide award-winning reseller, serving small and large businesses with their IT needs.
David thus brings extensive experience in administration, operations, marketing, supply chain technologies, IT and systems implementation. All of these skills will be most useful as David leads NGINA at a time of galloping technology, changing market dynamics and increasing membership needs.
David is looking forward to this challenging role and positioning NGINA to further enhance its relevance and service to members.
