The Nursery & Garden Industry Australia (NGIA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Bryan Hillier as the new president of the NGIA Board.
Bryan, with his wife Sharon, is the owner of Dracaena Farm, a multiple award-winning nursery in Beachmere Queensland, and has more than 30 years industry experience. He is a certified Nursery Professional, Chairman of the QLD Expo Committee (over 10 years), a representative on the Queensland Trade Day Committee (over 10 years), member for the NGIQ Management Board, the former NGIQ President (2006 – 2008) and is also a sitting Board Member of the Industry Advisory Council (IAC).
NGIA CEO, Robert Prince, said the Board was extremely pleased Mr. Hillier had accepted the position. “Bryan has been a great asset to the Board in his role as Vice President and brings with him a great deal of committee and industry experience. He is a no-nonsense operator and we look forward to working with him over the next two years,” says Robert.
Bryan is keen to begin his new role. “I’m excited about our industry and the opportunities we have to make a difference particularly in the area of the environment,” says Bryan.
Bryan will take up the position immediately from Geoff Richards, who has been president for the past two years. Richards will remain as a director of the Board representing Western Australia.
“The Board wishes to thank Geoff for his leadership and commitment during his term as President,” says Robert.
In addition, Gary Eyles has been appointed the new Vice President of the NGIA board. He is the Managing Director of A. T. Eyles and Sons, a leading citrus nursery in Kenthurst NSW, and has more than 40 years industry experience. He is also the Chair of the National NIASA Advisory Committee.
The other NGIA board members are Mark Geeves (Tasmania), Fergus Higson (Northern Territory), Phil Nagle (Victoria) and Craig Norman (South Australia).
