NEW INNOVATIONS IN IRRIGATION
13 Apr 2016
The 2016 Irrigation Australia International Conference and Exhibition is set to become a platform for the release of a range of new products and technologies guaranteed to take the irrigation industry by storm.
As Australia’s largest event dedicated to the irrigation industry, the 2016 Irrigation Australia International Conference and Exhibition is the perfect space to discover the latest innovations in irrigation products and technology.
With everything from nozzles to software applications on display, and speaker programs from key figures in the industry, this major event will provide a wealth of material to support prosperity and wellbeing in the irrigation industry.
Check out just some of the new innovations being launched at the 2016 Irrigation Australia International Conference and Exhibition.
FRANKLIN ELECTRIC LAUNCHES NEW SOLAR PRODUCT
In many remote locations around the world, traditional power is unavailable or unreliable to power a submersible pump and motor. Franklin Electric will launch the next generation of solar pump controllers on the show floor. Known as the FHOTON SolarPAK, the all-new system utilises Franklin’s proven solar technology with the new FHOTON solar drive that features a smaller modular design. The modular design makes maintenance simple for the contractor and operates without a fan, filter or moving parts.
The system will operate with any three phase AC induction motor and features a NEWA4-rated, anodised aluminium enclosure. The entire solar package of panels, pump, motor and drive are backed by Franklin’s team of field service engineers, creating an easy way for contractors to provide ‘off grid’ water pumping to their customers.
THE LATEST IN CENTRE PIVOT LATERAL MOVE IRRIGATORS
AcquaDragon Irrigation Systems (Stand 548) are proud to introduce their new hard hose lateral move irrigator to the Australian market on the show floor this year.
Lateral move overhead irrigation offers the best option for rectangular shaped blocks which are not suited to pivot irrigation. Laterals work best when they are channel fed but this is not always an option where they are needed on uneven sites.
Until now the only option has been for the lateral to tow a hose between hydrants. This increases the labour needed as the hose needs to be towed up between hydrants by a tractor and as the size of the lateral and infeed hose increases, the distance between hydrants needs to decrease as the hose become heavier.
The new hard hose lateral move irrigator addresses these problems with a twin reel system.

BIG DATA ANALYTICS FOR INTELLIGENT FARMING
Agriculture is in need of new tools and technologies to assist in the management of broad acre farming. The Intelligent Environmental Knowledgebase (i-EKbase) is a Farm Health Monitoring System that provides automated analysis and predictions to support farm management by;
- Integrating public and commercial data sources
- Applying big data analytics, predictive modeling
- A visual overlay of analysis upon Google Maps
The innovation in this idea is the incorporation of scalable analytics and customisable predictive modelling into the system as new applications or as partners arises. The purpose of the analytics is to present high resolution visual information to farmers in a manner that can be interpreted and acted upon.
“i-EKbase“ is a big data analytics platform that aims to provide scalable decision support solutions for broad acre farmers and agricultural consultants, to increase their profitability, through improving crop yield, by reducing labour costs and helping to maintain farming insurance, food safety, food standards, and biosecurity compliances for sustainable market access.
