China is set to get its own version of Hawaii with luxury hotel group Jumeirah unveiling plans for three new upscale developments.
Dubai-based luxury hotel group Jumeirah has unveiled plans for three new upscale developments to be located in China.
Foster + Partners have been selected to complete the urban development, located in Wuhan, the biggest city in central China.
The mixed-use building will include office, retail and residential units, as well as 200 guest rooms, speciality restaurants, a pool, spa, executive club and a business centre. The Jumeirah complex is due to open in 2020.
Zaha Hadid will design the Jumeirah Nanjing, a 250-room hotel which will occupy two twin curving towers and sit adjacent to a third low-rise structure.
Located in the Hexi business district, the complex will house a conference centre, a fitness centre, an indoor swimming pool and a formal ballroom. The Zaha Hadid design is scheduled for completion in 2016.
The third new resort, Jumeirah Haikou, will sit within an exclusive golf community and will boast 140 hotel rooms and 60 private villas on a 136-hectare private island in Hainan Province. The resort has been referred to as the ‘Hawaii of China’ due to its tropical weather.
The three hotel developments will join Jumeirah's growing international portfolio, which currently includes 22 resorts in the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
