CAPTAIN REPLAS TO THE RECYCLING RESCUE

02 Mar 2016

While government struggles with the issue of banning plastic shopping bags, Replas introduces Captain Replas to illustrate how plastic can be recycled into robust outdoor products such as furniture, bollards and decking.

Since its beginnings in 1991, Replas has developed world leading technologies to reprocess Australia’s waste into robust recycled-plastic products for outdoor use. These products offer an ethical alternative to virgin materials and provide long-lasting advantages to customers.

Replas produces a range of over 200 products and is Australia’s leading producer of recycled-plastic products using state-of-the-art machinery and robotics together with a high degree of energy efficiency.

Recycled plastic is resistant to termites, microorganisms and moisture, and will never split, rot, crack or need painting. With a range including outdoor furniture, bollards, signage, and decking, Replas strongly believes it is helping to create a better environment for the future.

While government is being called on to ban plastic shopping bags Replas has found a better way to deal with the problem, and they’ve recruited a new super hero to help spread the message.

A cheeky new film introduces Captain Replas—the latest superhero to take on the challenge of saving the world by issuing a call to us all to find our inner recycling hero.

Replas was looking for a fresh engaging way to encourage groups from schools, business groups and the community to discover the Carrum Downs based Replas Environmental Centre.

In the irreverent film Captain Replas goes on a quest to find ‘super civilians’ who are brave enough to take the tour and learn how they can be a part of the solution to plastic in our environment.

“We have one of the largest plastic recycling showrooms in the southern hemisphere, but we are something of a hidden treasure,” said Rita Holmes, Communications Manager for Replas.

“We wanted to find a unique and fun way to share our story, raise awareness about recycling and demonstrate how these throwaway bags can be turned into a variety of outdoor products. We challenge people’s thinking on recycling and encourage everyone to ‘take the tour’ to find out more.”

The Replas Environmental Centre incorporates a ‘tunnel experience’, which offers an innovative learning environment as well as a theatre that shows films on recycling. School groups can explore the showroom through an interactive recycling fact hunt while business and community groups can take advantage of the conference room for meetings.
