What is an Annual Inspection?
Annual inspection is mandatory every 12 months under AS/NZS 4486.1 as per AS 4685:2014 (Amended version of EN 1176:2008).
Annual inspection covers long term levels of safety, standards compliance, and ensures insurance cover for the year that follows, as well as reviewing maintenance works to ensure standards have not inadvertently been breached. It also serves as an external audit of maintenance teams and provides a yearly snapshot of compliance and progress of maintenance works.
Failure by an equipment owner/operator to undertake annual inspections is considered a breach of duty of care and will not stand up under legal scrutiny.
