The 35m glittering façade is lined with inverted pyramids, creating texture and depth while generating intrigue from passers-by. The panels are placed in different orientations so that the entire building sparkles and shimmers under different lighting conditions during the day and night. The building and its surroundings are designed with safely in mind, the vault-like exterior features concrete crash protection elements in the same aesthetic as the façade.
Contrary to the exterior of the building which is very visible and prominent, the design of the interior is modest. The sleek interior consists of reflective black floors and walls to direct attention to the gold on display. The displays inside are marked by simplicity; large show cases and excellent visibility characterise the venue.
The Gold Souk was completed at the beginning of 2015.
