The first educational family restaurant in China, the Fairyland Premium Kids Café is an ethereal fantasy world that allows kids to explore their imaginations while they learn - and eat.
The Fairyland Premium Kids Café designed by Wutopia Lab opened to the public in Dalian on May 28 2019. The brand is mutually owned by PACEE Education and Fairyland.
The architect explained that the inspiration for the space came when morning when his daughter was drawing a fairyland. Seeing the dreamy, childlike imagery, he was inspired to make her dreams come true to create a fairytale wonderland where kids could learn.
The exterior façade of the restaurant is made of aluminium panels with various sized punctures to create the effect of ripples woven together. Behind these ripples is a world between reality and dreams, created for kids.
The front lobby is a circular, mirrored space surrounded by a forest of lights, which is composed of 1000 acrylic tubes that are able to simulate the effect of sunlight shining through thick layers of leaves to provide a unique forest experience.
The central area is dubbed Cloudy Town, the wonderland for kids. There they can enjoy the acrylic Ocean of Clouds, with treehouses, slides, and a ball pit hidden in between the ‘clouds’. Surrounding Cloudy Town is be the food area.
At the corner of the Cloudy Town is the Golden Castle, which features candlelights, a fireplace and silverware for the kids.
A white gallery, hidden away from the centre, provides a space where kids can have some privacy with friends.
Another zone, partitioned by a red velvet curtain reveals neon lights, a wooden floor, beautiful wallpaper and crystal chandeliers, transporting the kids to a Broadway stage where they can dance and sing.
Restrooms continue the imaginative experience for the kids, with a cotton candy theme for girls and a space theme for boys.
