EDEN UNEARTHED 2017
23 Aug 2017
This year's Eden Unearthed will open at Eden Gardens on August 31. Set on the grounds of the centre, the art exhibition features both Australian and International artists.
Back again this year with an impressive array of site-specific installations, Eden Unearthed 2017 is thrilled to announce their judging panel and list of exhibiting artists.
Judges Graham Forsyth, Trevor Weekes and Allan Giddy will have their work cut out for them selecting from Eden Unearthed 2017 entries. The list of works includes installations from Prague based plastic artist Veronika Richterová, American textile artist Emma Mattson, South African landscape designer Leon Kluge as well as Australian artists Kerrie Argent, Ainslie Murray, Jonathon Bolitho, Natalie Ryan, Sally Kidall, Jane Gillings, Atanas Djonov and more.
Managing Director of Eden Gardens Simon Ainsworth is thrilled to welcome the public to view the exhibition. “We hope to inspire people to visit the garden over the six months of Eden Unearthed, which features some of Australia’s leading artists,” he said.
This year 50 installations will appear throughout Eden Gardens as part of the exhibition. As the largest privately funded exhibition of its kind in Australia, many of the artists receive a stipend to help support their endeavours in producing works for the public.
“The site-specific works, selected this year, range from sound to sculptural pieces, textile to tactile works, interactive to indigenous installations,” says curator Meredith Kirton. “All capturing something about this unique site, its renowned display gardens, the stunning vistas of Lane Cove National Park, or the wonderful extended community that interacts with Eden.”
The Eden Unearthed catalogue will be available for purchase with profits going to Eden’s chosen charity, Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off The Streets. Make sure you head to the Eden Garden’s flagship centre in Macquarie Park, Sydney to view these incredible works.
