The newly completed headquarters for the Queensland Government was supplied with several drainage systems by Hydro Constructions Products, ensuring the public spaces at 1 William Street remain functional and accessible to all pedestrians.
1 William Street office tower (1WS) is a landmark tower in the heart of Brisbane’s government precinct. With 44 floors above ground, it is the tallest commercial building in Brisbane.
Since the completion of the tower in 2016, employees and the general public alike are able to enjoy a series of outdoor spaces that promote activity at street level. These public spaces are lined with a dynamic network of pedestrian corridors that connect the site to its surroundings.
Hydro Construction Products was in a unique position to be able to offer a wide range of trench and sump drainage products to meet all design specifications. The awarded landscaping contractors for the project, Landscape Solutions were then able to incorporate the drainage systems into their outdoor landscapes.
At 1 William Street, there was a clear focus on accessibility, functionality and aesthetics. Hydro’s range of ductile iron and stainless-steel anti slip heelguard gratings satisfied not only legislative requirements (AS 1428.2 Clause 9(c), AS3996) but also met the design brief aesthetically.
Hydro Construction Products supplied various polymer trench drainage systems from our MEA Supreme Range with both heavy duty ductile heelguard grating to vehicular traffic areas and stainless steel heelguard grating to most pedestrian only areas.
