MORRIE HARRELL RESERVE SHELTER

Terrain Group partnered with the City of Unley in South Australia to design and manufacture a new sandpit for the Morrie Harrell Reserve.

Regularly used by families in the area, Morrie Harrell Reserve was lacking in shade from the sun. The playground children were using was in direct sunlight which in summer provided no protection from the hot sun. This called out for more play areas to be added that can also be enjoyed in the shade.

The primary objective of the project was to create an area for children to play that was protected from the sun. Careful attention throughout the design phase of the project was required to ensure the sandpit met specific installation parameters – set by the council. Montego was selected for the shelter material because it was the product best suited for the specific site conditions – a product that had enough width to cover the sandpit and the posts could be set up on either side.

Working directly with Michael Howley and John Wilkinson from the City of Unley, Terrain Group to complete the Morrie Harrell Reserve project. Collaboration was extremely important for this project, as the shade was supplied and delivered in kit form. The client chose to install the shade, but Terrain provided support at every step of the project to ensure a streamlined process a great end result.
