SHANG STREET: A PLAYGROUND DESIGNED BY CHILDREN
The local community at Shang Street, Mooroobool in Cairns, has a unique and personalised new playground. Drawings created by local children have been applied on playground equipment panels thanks to Proludic’s innovative and award-winning Grafic Games technique.
Cairns Regional Council wanted to involve the community in the design of the new playground, so they gave the local children pencils and paper and asked them to draw their favourite animals. Proludic then used its unique Grafic Games technique to apply the drawings to the panels of the J3832 Diabolo Multi-Play unit, creating a completely unique playground. Other Proludic play equipment for all ages has been included in the playground, including a Speed Gyro, Rodeoboard and Biibox unit.
“I found working with Proludic to be very easy, the company took the time to understand the design brief and the community, and created a concept that would reflect both,” said Matt Smith, Leisure Planning and Club Development Officer Cairns Regional Council. “The use of Grafic Games to incorporate the local kids’ designs is something that adds a unique flavour to the park. The community is thrilled with the upgrade and the park continues to be highly utilised.”
Proludic carefully selected play equipment highly resistant to weathering and vandalism in order to meet the brief set by Cairns Regional Council. The result is a tailor-made playground that will be enjoyed by children of all ages for many years to come.
