RIGA: A SPECTACULAR PLAY AREA

Proludic’s innovation and creativity is on display once again in the amazing playground they built in Riga, Latvia. The playground was inspired by the history and architecture of the city, and includes play areas for both younger and older children, with a variety of inclusive play equipment provided so that all children can play together.

This inter-generational playground has two sections: a play area for children from 2 to 6 years old, and a play area for children from 7 to 14. The two playgrounds are connected by a walkway symbolising the Vanšu Bridge, which spans the Daugaba River.

PLAY AREA FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN (2-6)

This playground is a modern representation of Riga’s buildings and fortifications. The play area offers a number of platforms at different heights, with the imposing Castle culminating at 6 metres. The shape of the archways, roofs, windows, and the colours used are inspired by the traditional architecture of the city. The cut-out aluminium panels, the brushed stainless steel and the play panels add a modern touch to the area.  The elevated walkway connecting this fortified play city and the play area for older children on the other side, offers unique climbing and innovative sliding activities. The more daring children can cross over using the Double Cableway.

PLAY AREA FOR OLDER CHILDREN (7-14)

In this playground, nature blends harmoniously with modernity. The colours and materials are a reference to the Latvia’s natural landscape and the modern city of Riga. The structures are deliberately free-form and are inspired by the contemporary architecture. The very high structures invite the most audacious children to climb to the top of the impressive Rainforest Tower, which peaks at 8 meters. The addition of Dynamic Structures – Skysurf, Aeroskate, Rodeoboard and Roll-Up – energises this part of the playground and provides great challenges to teenagers.

Other play equipment for all ages and abilities has been added to this large-scale playground to ensure the playground can be enjoyed by all.
