DARLING HARBOUR, SYDNEY

by Design Landscapes Australia Pty Ltd

Darling Quarter and its award-winning playground sit at the south-east end of the Darling Harbour precinct. The redevelopment comprises the civic connector; a vibrant retail food precinct; one of Sydney’s largest playgrounds covering more than 4,000 square metres, incorporating an extensive water play zone; and a community green.

A full range of both hard and soft landscape elements were installed including an extensive range of precast concrete furniture and play elements (baby play, boulders, table tennis tables), timber decks, stainless steel handrails and skate deterrents, perforated aluminium slide balustrades, on-slab and subsoil drainage, bespoke play elements (including the large slide, which is believed to be the first in Australia in terms of size and manufacture), decomposed granite and brick paving, large sand pit area, specially manufactured metal furniture, organic and rubber softfall, sandstone retaining walls, and all of the soil and planting works.
