Register of Play Inspectors International
RPII is acknowledged as the independent international accreditation organisation for playground inspectors and provides accreditation to current Australian, European and New Zealand playground standards.
Play Safety Australia, on behalf of CCEP, is the RPII training course and examination centre for Australia and New Zealand.
Internationally registered and CPD approved, course participants gain industry knowledge in addition to practical skills to improve productivity and reduce risk.
Four main organisations concerned with playground safety joined together to create the RPII and provide independent accreditation:
Association of Play Industries (API)
Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management (ILAM)
Fields in Trust (FIT) (originally NPFA)
Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA)
These organisations have jointly developed and approved an RPII registration scheme that enables inspectors to show potential and existing employers that they have demonstrated competency to carry out the inspection and reporting tasks required.
To ensure play safety, both for the protection of children using the equipment and to mitigate risk for councils, schools and organisations in charge of play areas.
When using accredited playground inspectors, providers should be assured that they meet the strict criteria set by the RPII and that they’ve been fully trained to conduct inspections to the required levels of competence.
BENEFITS OF THE REGISTER OF PLAY INSPECTORS
Accredits and certifies individual inspectors who have shown the required level of knowledge and demonstrated competence to the required standard(s).
Provides a register of those inspectors who reach the required standard and agree to the terms and conditions of registration and professional code of conduct.
Promotes the Register of Play Inspectors and makes it widely available to organisations and individuals who may require the services of such inspectors.
THE REGISTER SUPPORTS INSPECTORS, EMPLOYERS AND THE PUBLIC BY:
The RPII Board approves a syllabus and methodology for delivering course content.
Ensuring candidates who wish to be included on the register have a range of opportunities to demonstrate skills, knowledge and competencies to the necessary standards.
Promoting the existence and purpose of the register so that play industry and play operators may be assured that accredited inspectors have the necessary competencies.
Ensuring registered inspectors have Continued Professional Development (CPD) and keep abreast of changes within the industry and safety requirements.
RPII PROVIDES TRAINING AND ACCREDITATION FOR INSPECTORS TO THE ROUTINE, OPERATIONAL AND ANNUAL COMPREHENSIVE LEVEL IN:
Supervised early childhood services, including nature play, natural play and movable equipment
Indoor and contained play
Natural and Nature play
Accreditation to the RPII register is by examination and assessment. Accreditation through assessment is available to any inspector in the above fields regardless of where they may have undertaken their training.
