There is a scholarship opportunity from the BBM Sir John Pagan Horticulture Award. It is open to horticulturists younger than 24 years of age at the date of the closing of applications, who are currently undertaking or who have completed an acknowledged course in Horticulture with any University, TAFE or Training Organisation.

The winner will receive an $8,000 scholarship to travel to the United Kingdom to further their experience and training in the field of horticulture. Typically, awardees spend a minimum of a month in the UK but more often than not they stay for longer and incorporate work experience or field trips to other parts of Europe.

The 2013 BBM Sir John Pagan Horticulture Award will be presented by a BBM Youth Support representative at the AIH National Awards Dinner on October 25th, 2013, in Brisbane.

The winner would be expected to write an article about their UK experience for inclusion in horticultural media and BBM media. The winner would need to be willing to take on the roles of ‘BBM Ambassador’ to promote the values of BBM Youth Support and ‘AIH Student Ambassador’ to promote AIH and the study of horticulture in its many forms.

About Patrick Regnault
I have worked in the horticultural and landscaping industry for over 35 years in three different countries.I am a member and Registered Horticulturist with the Australian Institute of Horticulture and member of the Housing Industry Association. I am the owner of Interactive Landscapes, a successful structural landscaping and landscape design business. I believe that what gardens and gardening do is to reconnect people with the fundamental elements of nature. A good gardener will try and acquire a profound understanding of the balance of nature and endeavour to do the best to improve the environment in which the garden is situated. At Interactive Landscapes it is a philosophy that we put into practice when designing and creating a garden, no matter the size. Our name reflects this as we understand that gardens are a place of interaction. View all posts by this author »
