Information on Searching
The Outdoor Design Source website in many ways reflects the organisation of the directory itself. The search facility, like the directory, offers several ways of locating the information you are after: search by company, person, keyword or category.
There are some important hints to searching on this website that will ensure you take the quickest route to the information for which you are looking.
Specific Searches - By default the ODS search engine searches for listings that contain any of the words you enter, although it is not case sensitive. Therefore, if you know the specific name of the product or company for which you are searching, enclose this information with quotation marks and the search engine will search this exact phrase only e.g. "playground equipment", "CSR", "Ke-zu".
Required Words or Phrases - Prefixing a word or a phrase with a + symbol denotes a requirement, and only listings that contain that word or phrase will appear in the results e.g. for listings containing both the word "clay" and the word "tiles": +clay +tiles.
Excluded Words or Phrases - Prefixing a word or phrase with a - symbol denotes an exclusion and any listings what contain that word or phrase will not appear in the results, depite any other conditions e.g. for listings that mention the phrase "safety surface", but not the word "softfall": +"safety surface" -softfall
The search results are generally listed in the following order:
- Companies for whom a dataspec (half-page profile of a company's products and services) exists are listed first and provide a link to the dataspec that appears within ODS.
- Following are all companies with a product or service listing in ODS.
