ROSEHILL TPV SUPPORTS CANCER AWARENESS
26 Aug 2015
Toronto residents welcomed a much-anticipated public space at its new heart: a new urban park with a richly varied forest and striking pink covering of Rosehill TPV. June Callwood Park injects colour and a dose of street life into the urban landscape.
June Callwood Park is located amidst a quadrant of tall residential buildings on a wedge-shaped corridor in Fort York, Toronto (CA). The park’s rubberised benches and surfacing were created in a special bright pink hue in support of breast cancer awareness – to honour the woman for whom the park was named, June Callwood, one of Canada’s leading social activists who died of cancer in 2007.
The Pink Field area of the park boasts a wide rubberised play surface made from Rosehill TPV, which makes for a safe and especially inviting playground for the rapidly growing number of children in the area.
Rosehill TPV is unique in rubber wetpour in that the individual granules aren’t porous, so they don’t absorb the polyurethane binder used in the wetpour process. This means that rather than hardening over time, the surface stays soft and continues to perform as intended. Along with a programmed, regular maintenance program, the surface will provide years of use.
Rosehill Polymers, a UK based company, developed TPV in collaboration with Dupont-Dow. It is a mix of high quality virgin polymer, anti-oxidants and UV stabilisers that make it the premium product in the rubber wetpour industry. It is produced only at Rosehill Polymer’s state of the art facility in the UK.
Rosehill TPV has been used globally for several years across such projects as the London Olympic Stadium Circle Bridge, Disney, Sea World, Universal Studios, and now the June Callwood Park in Toronto.
What makes Rosehill TPV a superior product for playgrounds:
- Superior UV stability and weather resistance to any other rubber product in the marketplace (as measured in a QUV Accelerated Weathering Machine)
- Colour consistency
- Non-allergenic and Non-toxic. Does not contain any Propylenes
- Contains no heavy metals and does not leach out carbon or colour pigments
