REVITALISATION THROUGH PLANNING AND DESIGN

Brisbane-based landscape architect and urban design company, Terrain, aims to revitalise cities through planning and design.
Brisbane-based landscape architect and urban design company Terrain Consultants continues to service regional and rural cities and townships throughout Queensland and New South Wales.
Recognised for its wide experience and knowledge of regional communities and their commercial and social environments, Terrain brings to each township a strategy to revitalise their business district and social hearts through planning and design.
Currently working in Monto, Biloela, Winton and Goondiwindi, the company’s planning has achieved new developments, redevelopment of showgrounds and recreation facilities, and main street redevelopments — all of which have encouraged principles of economic and environmental sustainability.
The principal of Terrain, Scott Taylor, enjoys an historical link with the Darling Downs and southwest Queensland, particularly through his family’s pastoral roots.
While main streets and town centres have been planned for future business and economic developments, the social and physical environment of the public domain is an initial focus.
Public consultation processes vary from town to town to ensure the greater participation of the local community. Scott manages these processes, personally ensuring complete impartiality between the local council and the community.
“Many issues we come across are similar; however, the answers are never the same. Each and every community always retains its’ unique identity and qualities,” says Scott.
