The Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show celebrates its 15th year in 2010 and promises to bring an explosion of colour.
The world-renowned Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show (MIFGS) returns in 2010 with an explosion of colour and design. Held March 24 – 28 and set within the unique World Heritage Listed Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens, the event remains the biggest annual flower and garden show in the Southern Hemisphere.
Celebrating it’s 15th year in 2010, MIFGS will once again bring the creativity and passion of Australia’s top floral and landscape designer’s to Melbourne, delivered in stunning displays, as well as a strong environmental message for gardening in the climate we live in. Together with an extensive array of garden and floral retail products, great food and entertainment for the whole family, MIFGS is a celebration of the Australian lifestyle and the great outdoors.
MIFGS Event Manager, Kathleen Rushford, is delighted with the number of exhibitors planning to display innovative products and services in 2010. The 500-plus exhibitors range from suppliers of floral and garden products and services to outdoor living and design sustainability.
“The show continues to improve every year, with more and more quality exhibitors coming on board to deliver a truly spectacular event,” said Kathleen.
“There’s no better way to experience the world of outdoor living and design than at MIFGS. With hundreds of square metres of gardens, visitors won’t even notice the change of season. Things are always in full bloom at the show.”
The Garden Design Awards are presented at MIFGS every year, and recognise the best of the best in outdoor landscaping. The highly coveted awards program offers Gold, Silver and Bronze accolades to designers, in addition to a student and industry association award. Judged on the first day of the event, visitors have another four days to peruse the gardens and be awed by their collective beauty.
MIFGS is an established national ‘hallmark’ event, renowned for attracting record numbers of local and international visitors. In the last 14 years, 1.5million people have visited MIFGS. The event has the support and participation of key industry bodies including NGIV, Flowers Victoria, LIAV and AILA, plus active participation from leading horticultural colleges and universities throughout Victoria and Australia.
