HydraWise won the Outside Design Source New Product award at the 2011 Australian Landscape Expo held at Melbourne Royal Exhibition Buildings on 1-2 September.
HydraWise was the outstanding winner of the Outside Design Source New Product award at the 2011 Australian Landscape Expo held at the Melbourne Royal Exhibition Buildings on 1-2 September.
The award was judged by leading industry professionals from Landscape Victoria and the Nursery & Garden Industry of Victoria.
Over 30 new products were in the running and judging was based on a points system. HydraWise beat off stiff competition to be the clear winner!
The judges described the HydraWise controller as the next generation in irrigation controllers with a simple interface combined with powerful features such as remote control and automatic schedule adjustments.
According to HydraWise Director, Cameron Ryan, “Ease of use and full remote control were our primary design considerations and it’s great that this was recognised by the judges”.
HydraWise irrigation controllers are fully configurable via the HydraWise website using a web browser or smart phone. With access to over 32,000 personal weather stations around the world, watering times are automatically adjusted based on local temperature and rainfall. This allows for water savings when it rains and extra watering in hot conditions. Multiple controllers can be managed from the same account and are suitable for commercial users such as landscape management companies, schools, councils, universities and landscape designers or home users.Fully wireless everything can be programmed remotely even from a phone, particularly useful if a customer is out on site.
The product has been in production for 18 months and was launched in September. It is one of the first types of equipment to be comprehensive and fully wireless.Feedback from Landscape management companies and Tafes on the product, launched in September, has been phenomenal especially as the innovative technology is priced at just under $400.
‘Key for clients is that the product links to a weather station very close to them, not a geographical station many kilometres away,’ explained Cameron.
“We thought we had a good chance at winning the award but were thrilled to actually win,’ Cameron continues. ‘The judges seemed impressed that it was such a small, simple product so easy to use and with a good price point.’
