HILLCROFT TAKES OFF
24 Aug 2016
The Claymore Urban Renewal project in Sydney’s Southwest has been given a boost with the planting of a number of street trees and extensive construction on Badgally Reserve by Simpson Landscapes.
Considered one of the most socially disadvantaged suburbs in Australia, Claymore in Sydney’s Southwest, under direction of the State Government, is currently undergoing a huge transformation into one of Sydney’s most desirable housing estates. Once completed, the Landcom development known as Hillcroft will become an integrated mixed community of private homes and public facilities. As well as new housing, the rejuvenated suburb will contain community parks, playgrounds, barbecues and picnic settings.
Helping to shape this new community into a fun, family-friendly place was the construction of Badgally Reserve and playground recently completed by Simpson Landscapes. Together with street tree planting, which is occurring as civil works are completed, the new reserve and playground with its attractive open space and community amenities is providing a richer environment for local residents.
Extensive works by Simpson Landscapes were undertaken, which included:
- Construction of concrete pavements, insitu concrete stairs and walls
- Connection of electrical supply
- Supply and installation of barbecue facilities
- Supply and installation of street furniture (bollards, seats, picnic settings, bubbler, bin)
- Supply and installation of stabilised decomposed granite
- Supply of service including potable water
- Construction of subsoil drainage, stormwater pits and pipes in park
- Supply and installation of concrete edging
- Supply, installation and certification of playground items
- Supply and installation of wetpour rubber and organic mulch softfall surfaces
- Supply and installation of plants and turf
- Spreading of mulch
- Maintenance of works
Suppliers contributing to the project include:

The completed Bagdally Reserve is now one of the community’s most attractive spaces, with a range of public amenities and exciting play equipment that was designed and installed by Simpson Landscapes in a considered and well constructed manner, bringing this underdeveloped region one step closer to renewal.
