DesignEX, Australasia's exhibition for commercial and residential interior architecture and design, is held in Melbourne, April 30 - May 2.
DesignEx, Australasia’s exhibition for commercial and residential interior architecture and design, will be held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, April 30 to May 2.
Celebrating the passion of the Australian design industry, this year’s central theme is DesignEx – It’s a Religion.
Considered the pinnacle of the design calendar, DesignEx is a 3-day celebration of design trends, products and people.
“Capturing the zeal of design professionals across the Southern Hemisphere for 21 years, DesignEx has built a loyal following of those acutely interested in design innovation,” says Edward Owens from DMG Media, which stages the event.
“We expect more than 300 leading design companies to gather together to showcase their creativity,” he adds.
Developed to maximise revelations, visitations and inspirations, DesignEx will be launching new initiatives this year including an Open Shutter photography gallery and a new program for its International Seminar Series.
DesignEx will also feature perennial favourites such as the Electrolux Outdoor Room with Jamie Durie and D4S, an interactive showcase of the latest in Design for Sustainability.
DesignEx 2009 will have some great outdoor products being launched such as outdoor carpet from FREEK. First spotted this year at the most revered furniture and design show, Zona Tortona at Salone del Mobile in Milan, FREEK has chosen to make its Australian debut at this year’s DesignEx.
In addition to the Outdoor Room, Jamie Durie will also be part of the line-up in the DesignEx International Seminar Series for 2009. Jamie’s presentation, Extreme Scaping, will focus on the greening of urban environments and will cover things such as vertical gardens and vertical framing; rooftop gardens; creating wildlife sanctuaries in cities; window boxes and container gardening; and landscaping with edibles.
The Seminar Series is supported by over 20 outdoor design-specific innovators, reflecting Australia's obsession with outdoor design and open-air living.
DesignEx is a must for all designers, architects, specifiers, retail buyers for furniture and homewares, property managers, developers, landscapers, interior designers and decorators.
DesignEx will be co-located with Form & Function, Australia’s premier building, architectural and construction trade exhibition.
