SARINA BEACH ACCESS STAIRWAYS

by Replas

Sarina beach in Mackay, Queensland is set for summer with the addition of five new beach access staircases along the beach.

Two of the accesses are brand new and three have replaced timber staircases that had suffered damage from storms and king tides.

Replas Diamond Club member Matt Stokes from Plants Whitsunday and his team installed the staircases and found recycled plastic to be perfect because “the Replas products remove the problem of rot, corrosion and ongoing surface treatment.”

According to Matt “the recycled products are win-win. Win for the environment and win for the longevity of the structures.”

Parks and environment portfolio Councillor Theresa Morgan said “not only do these accesses provide safer passage to our beaches for the public, they are longer lasting and require less maintenance than timber structures. They also help to direct pedestrian access to the beach therefore protecting the fragile dune environment from disturbance.”
