FIGURATIVE WORKS

by Terrance Plowright

Terrance is well-known for his many figurative works, often of renowned Australian figures. Most of these are awards from various city councils, as well as private commissions.

Examples of these works include his larger than life bronzes of Lachlan Macquarie in Sydney’s Hyde Park, commissioned by the New South Wales Government; Sir Henry Parkes, commissioned by the Parkes City Council;  Cobar Miner, a memorial for the mining community, commissioned by the Cobar City Council; as well as the sporting figures of, amongst others, Steve Waugh and Stan  McCabe, at the Sydney Cricket Ground, and commissioned by the SCG Trust.

Some more unusual works include the cast bronze ‘Surfer Series’ found at Maroochydore, Queensland. He also designed and built a number of white cast resin sports figures, such as cricketers, tennis, golf and rugby players, amongst others, at Champions Sports Area in Mount Pritchard.

Other significant works include the Convict Road Builders Memorial at Echo Point in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains, as well as ‘Life from a Suitcase’ at Pyrmont Wharf, Sydney, made up of nine bronze larger than life-size figures of three generations of the Signorelli family and celebrating immigration to Australia.

Terrance is currently completing a 2m high bronze portrait of Robert Mactier, WWI VC for the Greater Shepparton City Council and Tatura RSL in Victoria.
