Setting Jumeirah Golf Estates ablaze is the new Greg Norman-designed Fire Golf Course
The Fire Golf Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates is located in the booming city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. This world class golf course is the second Greg Norman-designed Championship course and is attracting attention both for its stunning design and level of play.
Framed by a wide variety of captivating flora, carefully selected to reflect the overall theme and to enhance its natural setting, the Fire Golf Course is in complete harmony with its surroundings.
Hydrograss Technologies was selected by the owner and developer, Leisurecorp, to provide hydro-seeding services for the Fire Golf Course. Logistics alone made for some real challenges. All the hyrdro-seeding equipment necessary, along with a full shipping container of GeoPerm, had to be shipped by boat from the US to Dubai on a very tight schedule.
With grassing finished and more than 98 hectares of hydro-seeding complete, the final touches for the landscape include the planting of more mature trees to add to the 3,000 already planted in Jumeirah Golf Estates.
When it comes to the game of golf, the Fire Golf Course offers the avid golfer a more challenging level of play. With its undulating topography and considerable protrusions, the golf course demands a well-thought out strategy. And with its rustic, visually stunning look, Fire Golf Course is captivating, even to those who do not golf.
The Fire Golf Course joins sister course Earth, which was also designed by Greg Norman. “Fire will offer a completely different golf experience to its close neighbour Earth. While the Earth course resembles playing conditions often found in North America and Europe, with broad fairways and lush vegetation and fast-flowing water, Fire will be a stark contrast and is designed to reflect the local surroundings,” said Greg.
“Features include vast areas of informal bunkering, narrow fairways and wall-to-wall varieties of grass. I believe these elements will combine to create an equally stunning golf course, but also an equally challenging course from a player’s perspective.”
“Jumeirah Golf Estates is arguably the world’s most anticipated golf course development, and while Earth hosted the first Dubai World Championship, Fire will also provide a fitting test for the world’s finest golfers,” said Leisurecorp CEO – Golf, David Spencer.
Jumeirah Golf Estates will consist of four courses, the already completed Fire and Earth, as well as Water and Wind.
