Association Profile

The Swimming Pool & Spa Association of NSW (SPASA NSW) is the peak body within the state’s pool and spa industry, representing hundreds of Australian businesses. Members of SPASA NSW include leading pool builders, manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, technical servicemen, subcontractors, installers, consultants and other allied trades, all of whom set themselves apart from the rest of the industry by setting standards of skill, workmanship and ethical business behaviour in the best interests of pool and spa owners.

As the peak body, SPASA NSW is responsible for overseeing the development of the indusrtry within NSW.

This includes:

Government Representation & Advocacy – SPASA members have industry representation in many federal and state government forums. SPASA liaises with government on any legislation that affects our industry. SPASA also sits on a number of Standards Australia review committees and has longstanding involvement in government liaison e.g. NSW Office of Fair Trading; NSW Department of Planning; Consumer Tenancy and Trade Tribunal; Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) and others. SPASA has been active in influencing laws and regulations that determine how our industry is governed since its inception.
Training (RTO) Registered Training Organisation – SPASA NSW is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that provides training and assessment to the swimming pool and spa industry in Australia. SPASA NSW courses are highly valued and sought after by industry employers and the wider community. In addition to formal training, SPASA NSW provides the most comprehensive CPD Points opportunities throughout the year at little or no cost to members.

SPASA Construction Contracts – SPASA contracts not only provide members with a sound legal document which can be relied upon but also provide peace of mind to your customer.
Consumer & Trade Expos – SPASA hosts a Consumer & Trade Pool & Spa Expo every year. Membership means being able to showcase your products or services at discounted rates. Exhibiting at the Consumer and Trade Shows provide significant exposure opportunities to your target markets.
Chapter & Sector Meetings – Chapter Meetings offer regional members a unique local forum to express their views and needs. Chapter Meetings are held quarterly in the Australian Capital Territory, Northern Rivers, Newcastle, and Central West regions. SPASA NSW also holds frequent Sector Meetings giving individual sectors the opportunity to raise and exchange ideas in an environment of likeminded individuals.

Awards of Excellence – SPASA NSW members are eligible to enter the annual Awards of Excellence. The awards are designed to reward and promote achievement in design, construction, innovation and professionalism across all sectors of the industry to the public. The awards give SPASA NSW members a chance to showcase their skills, creativity, innovation, sheer hard work and their spirit. The quality and excellence of design and installation epitomises Australian pool building at its very best and winners can be proud that they have competed with the best in the business.

Pool & Spa Essentials (SPASA NSW Magazine) – Pool & Spa Essentials is the flagship annual magazine from the Swimming Pool & Spa Association of NSW. Pool & Spa Essentials is a vibrant, quality lifestyle magazine especially designed for consumers considering or renovating a pool/spa; current pool/spa owners and those wanting to enhance their outdoor home environment.

Building a Better Future

SPASA NSW implements strategies that continue to set the benchmark for the industry. These include:

1. To uphold the concepts of free enterprise and service to the consumer.
2. To operate at all times in a manner that will enhance the swimming pool and spa industry.
3. To encourage research and development of new materials, products and methods.
4. To co-operate and assist where possible all levels of government in their dealings with the swimming pool and spa industry.
5. To influence and comply with all applicable laws, ordinances and regulations.
6. To act fairly and properly at all times towards fellow members of the association
7. To act in a professional and unbiased manner when called upon to advise, consult or take any action in relation to products, services or works on behalf of a consumer.
