Industry Association: Concrete Masonry Association of Australia Ltd
Association Profile
The Concrete Masonry Association of Australia (CMAA) is a national organisation funded by the Australian concrete masonry industry. Founded in 1967 as a non-profit organisation, the CMAA was formed to extend and promote the concrete masonry market in Australia.
Members and their customers benefit from the technical manuals and data sheets published by the CMAA which are mostly free on its website. The Association also conducts conferences and courses, and provides a technical advisory service for the construction industry and other users of concrete masonry products.
Structure
The CMAA is run by a board of directors elected by member companies. The CMAA maintains a full-time national secretariat based in Sydney. A national Technical Committee monitors, develops and researches the myriad technical issues confronting the concrete masonry industry. The Committee also provides direction and support to Standards Australia in the development of masonry Codes and Standards.
Focus
Representing the industry on national issues, especially in technical marketing areas, is the primary focus of CMAA’s strategic objectives.
National technical marketing is the main activity of the CMAA in three areas of strategic importance to the industry:
• Regulatory
• Technical
• Education
To encourage the use of concrete masonry products and maintain support for the industry, activities of the CMAA are geared towards a generic approach to regulatory, technical and educational issues.
These activities strengthen the technical and image base of the industry as a whole.
